The lower rocker panel in front of each wheel well of the 1967 Cougar XR-7 was adorned with 7 “Hash Marks”. Each one was held in place by two screws. The individual pieces were each die cast and then chrome plated before having the center section carefully painted satin black. This kind of detail has long been extinct from automotive design. On a new car you are lucky to find a plastic badge held on by two-sided tape. This is one of those little details that makes these old cats so special.
